Natural Bridge

Now that it is Spring, I have been dyeing for a trip to the Zoo. There are two zoos, each an hour away from us. One is in Roanoke and is supposed to be rather small with smaller animals. The other is a privately owned zoo at the Natural Bridge with large animals such as Tigers, Giraffes, and Elephants. I and a friend decided to try out the Natural Bridge Zoo during Spring break. It was fun but not nearly as nice we had hoped for.

Basically it wasn't stroller friendly. The walk ways were all gravel and it was nearly impossible to push a stroller. The larger animals were also placed inside small cages. But it looks like they are trying to raise funds and are starting to develop better habitats for their animals. So hopefully in five years, it will be much better. The kids still had a blast feeding and seeing many of the animals. And since it was Spring we were bale to see many babies, which is always fun.

Savannah, Ethan, and Zachery

Zachery LOVED the monkeys! I took him out of the Stroller and he just stood by the windows and laughed and pointed and had a good time with these monkeys.

I think this was the best part of the zoo. How often can you stand so close to a Giraffe? Seriously, we just had a fence between us. I tried to get a photo of the kids standing next to him, but both kids were a little intimidated by the massive animal. So I decided to get closer and show them there was nothing to be afraid of. That is when I realized just how tall Giraffes were. WOW! No wonder the kids didn't want to turn their backs on Mr. Giraffe for a photo.

Anyone want a Kiss?
