Day 4-Brussels, Belgium

Monday-September 1st

This is the first time I was actually really sick. I believe it mostly stemmed from the fact that the night before we were out really late and we had to get up and ready early in the morning to catch our train to Belgium. I was feeling very awful until we arrived in Brussels. But I never really felt 100% until the next morning.

We did a little sight seeing in Brussels and then drove to our Bed and Breakfast which was in Torhout, Belgium (http://www.woodside.be/english.html).

The Grand Place in Brussels.

We only spent about 2 hours in Brussels walking around. There was a lot of old buildings full of touristy stores. Lots of Chocolate shops and Lace shops.

This is the famous statue, The Mannekin Pis. It was a lot smaller then it is made out to be.

This was some kind of Lucky Charm. You are supposed to rub his arm as you pass for good luck. I think it was a statue of some guy how saved the city a long time ago or something like that. I can't remember exactly.

The Bed and Breakfast was a very nice place called Woodside. The rooms have their own bathroom and they are all located upstairs of this ladies home who lives in a nice subdivision. The houses are all made from brick and look so wealthy and grand. Behind Woodside is a large wooded area full of trails. The main trail leads to an old castle. We waked up the path after we had a pizza dinner in town. There was nothing opened and we went to the first place we saw with an open sign which happened to be pizza. But it was very very good pizza. Anyway, the castle was very pretty. The main floor had been turned into a restaurant which was closed at the time. I am not sure what the rest of the building was used for. But we walked around the ground till it got dark and figured we better turn back before we got lost in the woods.
The path leading into the woods towards the Castle. It was very pretty, like a scene from a Renaissance movie.

The castle was surrounding by ponds full of geese and swans. And there was lots of rabbits hoping all over the place.
