A break through
RJ has always had trouble going to bed on his own and sleeping through the night in his own bed. When he was younger he had to rub someones arm to fall asleep and so one of us always laid down with him until he was out. That stopped after Savannah was born but we still stayed close until he fell asleep, and he would wake up in the middle of the night and we would do it all over again. Sometimes I gave in and let him sleep in our bed. When we moved, I think things got a little worse. His room is upstairs on the opposite side of the house from our room which is downstairs. Not like our house is that big, but he was farther then he was used to. There is a little couch in the play room just outside of his room and he would ask us to sit on the couch till he feel asleep. And then every night he wound up in our bed. It was so tiresome because he would want you to stay with him until he fell asleep again, and this occured 2-3 times a night. Jared got sick of it and finally had the idea of putting a little bed on the floor so he had a place to go when he got up each night. We were able to get rest after that, but almost every night RJ was on the floor by morning. On the very few nights he stayed in his bed all night long, we rewarded him, and he was so proud of himself. But it never continued. Not until the last two weeks...RJ has slept in his bed every night. We cracked down a few months ago about the couch and we haven't had to stay with him till he fell asleep. The bed has still been on the floor just in case. But last night he woke up, and he came down to use the bathroom. This is the first time he had woken up in two weeks, so I thought, oh no here we go again. But he surprised me. He used the potty and then went right back to his room without a word. I am so excited and RJ is so proud of himself for being a big boy, "Just like a five year old" is what he says.

That's hard. We've been very blessed with good sleepers, I have a lot of friends that struggle with both their kids joining them in the middle of the night. It's hard to crackdown on your kids.
I love that he says, "like a 5 year old" that's so cute.
